Some breeders are offering PEDIGREE's for their pure-bred dogs as if this is something special. Do NOT fall for it!!
What you want is "registration". Registration comes from a club (AKC, CKC, CKCS, UKC). The "K" stands for kennel "C" is for Club in each. These clubs require the breeder to register with them. The breeder may be subject to kennel inspections, agreements and regulations for breeding practices. +PLUS+ it means that your dog is registered and a member of the club. Your dog can participate in club events and activities.
